The hypocrisy of the US, Israel and their Western imperialist allies becomes clearer and clearer every day. The Israeli attack on Iran was unprovoked, but that word is never used in the Western media when talking about Israel. However, it is always used when describing the Special Military Operation of Russia in Ukraine. Ukraine is right on the border with Russia. If it becomes a NATO member, NATO can place nuclear weapons in Ukraine as they have done with other NATO countries. A missile launched from Ukraine could hit Moscow in minutes. This is an existentialist threat for Russia, and they cannot let that happen.
Ukraine says it does want nuclear weapons, however, Iran has always said it does not. Israel, of course, has nuclear weapons and is clearly the most aggressive country in the region; it has attacked Iran, Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and others regularly and they have especially attacked the Palestinians repeatedly in the West Bank and Gaza since 1948. They have eliminated more than 500 Palestinian villages from the time of the Nakba and a low estimate of the number of Palestinians they have killed in Gaza in recent months is 65,000. They deny the people of Gaza, food, water, medicine, all of which are war crimes as is bombing civilians, schools, and hospitals.
Yet the US and NATO countries support and enable them and try to portray Israel is a light for democracy and freedom in the region.
Netanyahu, the genocidal leader of Israel, has the audacity to urge the people of Iran to rise up against their government for its “lack of democracy” and because they “impoverish” their people. This he does as he bombs them. But it is the Israeli people who have been revolting against their government, especially for their lack of democracy. Netanyahu, they all understand, should be in prison for corruption (and genocide), not in power. Any impoverishment in Iran is due to the harsh sanctions imposed by the West, not by their government. Yet, Israel only exists with the support of the Western imperialist countries.
It is time that we start to understand that it is Israel, the US and its European allies that are the real problem in the world not the poorer countries of the world that have been exploited by them for centuries. And this understanding is starting to happen. The genocide in Gaza and the strong fightback of the Iranians is opening the eyes of many people to the reality that war and repression are caused by the US and its Western imperialist allies. They are not now and have never been a force for peace.
